When I contacted the April Sound Golf Pros to get news about upcoming golf events and happenings, I was able to speak with both Joey Branham, Director of Golf and Assistant Pro Michelle Tomek, and both had much to report. First, in case you’ve been wondering, the greens on the Blue Course are growing nicely and the rains will surely help. The Blue Nine is scheduled to re-open on Thursday, Sept. 3, with a Grand Opening party being planned. Watch for details or ask at the Pro Shop.
Just in case you aren’t getting enough politics lately, the upcoming general meeting of the North Shore Republican Women is nearing. The guest speaker will be Tom Mechler, new Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, who’ll share the straight scoop on what it’ll take to win in 2016. I’m alerting you now because the meeting is Sept. 2 but you’ll need to have your reservation made no later than noon on Monday, Aug. 31. Yes, that’s a whole week away but, if you don’t call the club at 936-597-6219 right now while you’re thinking about it, you know it’ll slip your mind, you’ll lose your seat, then we’ll lose the election and it’ll be all your fault. You’re welcome.
The weather continues to be too hot to stay outside very long. It really makes you question your insanity to play golf or any other outside activity. Let’s hope cooler weather shows up soon.

At long last Water Oak was blessed with some desperately needed rainfall — a half inch on Wednesday afternoon. May we continue to receive more moisture to end this lack of sufficient rainfall to restore the Lake Conroe water level that is nearly a foot below full pool.
